In 2024, I read 100 books. Which is wild because I never considered myself THAT much of a reader before. But, when you have good friends to read with, it becomes an addiction. I probably could have read even more, however, as the year wrapped up, I had some minor life changes that required attention. All that being said, I will probably do individual reviews eventually on a lot of the books I read, but this is a recap of my three favorite series-es (is there a plural for series? IDK but I’m too lazy to look it up) that I read in 2024.

ZODIAC ACADEMY by Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti
Where do I even start with this? This was a series that I kept seeing on bookstagram and 9 books seemed like too much, but I had already finished the entire Maasiverse, so not as much to digest as that. Right? Sure….it certainly cured the TOG hangover I was having–just to give me an even bigger one!
I’ll be honest, the first book, “The Awakening”, didn’t give me a whole lot of faith in the series. It was comedic for sure, but also super childish. Did I laugh out loud? Multiple times. Did I cry? Not in the first book, but by the end of “Restless Stars” I had laughed, cried, screamed, thrown the devices, and my life was forever changed. Zodiac Academy is the rollercoaster I would happily get back on and ride over and over.

THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J. Maas
I’m on the SJM bandwagon. This series was just A+ from start to finish. I’m not going to unpack all my thoughts on how much I loved these books in this blog post, but despite how long the series was, I was left wanting so much more. Unlike in Zodiac Academy where we got to see the characters happy for a time, that doesn’t happen in TOG. The epilogue was way too short, and I need to know about Chaol and Yrene’s baby. Did is mother really move in with them? Are Aedion and Lysandra really happy together? They had some rough moments! Dorian and Manon??? Do they make it work?? GAH. I need more.

EDGE OF DARKNESS by Leigh Rivers
This series was so dark and sweet. I loved getting to know Cade and Stacey from angsty teenagers to broken and then healing adults. They were broken so many times by other people and just trying to find their way back to each other while not losing who they were as individuals and to each other. The breaking was rough, the revenge was sweet, and the consequences were shattering. As a reader, the way it was written made me feel like I was on that journey with them, and the HEA gave me a satisfying sense of peace for them. I can’t wait to read the stories of the other characters in this series because they went through it too!
